As we look at the process needed to identify instructional technology tools and make them a seamless infusion to the design of classroom instruction, let's identify the pieces for that design and infusion here.´╗┐

  • ´╗┐Identify your goal: state it as an enduring understanding, as a broad concept, as a big idea, but have a stated, specific goal and outcome.
  • Decide when and how you AND your students will know that they have met the goal, that they understand that enduring concept and big idea
  • Choose the tools and activities that will carry you toward that goal and understanding

To develop lessons and tasks that challenge students to think at higher levels and to make informed choices and decisions, access to rich information and resources is a necessity. Below is a partial list of primary sources and expert information that students and teachers may use for greater learning.



This list is not comprehensive, even as we continue to add to it. As individual teachers, we all need to know how to evaluate websites as we search for them and as we discover them. We should also be able to model for our students the process of determining the relevancy, appropriateness, details, currency, authority and bias expressed at individual websites. To achieve that model and practice, the following may be helpful.



Finally, in addition to content resources, there are also digital tools -- web-based software -- that you may access, practice and apply in your classrooms to provide new means of "direct instruction", to encourage deeper thinking, and to support creativity and innovation in and out of the classroom.
